Intrastat is the system for collecting statistics on the trade of goods between the countries of the European Union (EU). It has been operating since January 1993 and replaced customs declarations as the source of gathering trade statistics within the EU.
The requirements of Intrastat are similar throughout the member states of the EU. Larger VAT registered businesses must supply additional supplementary declarations as well as completing boxes eight and nine on their VAT returns where they declare the total value of any goods supplied to other EU countries ‘dispatches’ and the total value of any goods acquired from other EU countries ‘arrivals’. This applies to all companies with a value of trade in goods above the legally set threshold which is currently set at £ 221,000.00* for a calendar year running from January 1st through to December 31st.
If you think you should be making supplementary declarations and need help, please contact a member of the team. We are equipped with the necessary computer software to complete any declarations on your behalf.
